Ros Caso, new CEO of Covides
Caso will replace Ricard Gil, who is retiring after 20 years as manager of Covides.
The Penedès cooperative Covides has a new CEO. Ricard Gil, Covides’ current chief executive, is retiring soon. Gil joined Covides in 2005 and for 20 years has led the company, modernizing it, internationalizing it, and turning it into one of the leading producers of DO Penedès wines and DO Cava sparkling wines. Gil will be replaced by Ros Caso, who was previously CEO of the well-known canned food and snack brand Espinaler. Caso, 53, has been CEO of Espinaler for eight years and previously spent 13 years as director of corporate development at the Vichy Catalan Group. Gil and Caso will share an office for a few months to facilitate the transition in management.
A professional management model that works
In 2005, the Governing Council of Covides decided to professionalize the management of the cooperative by bringing in a senior executive from outside the sector. This led to the arrival of Ricard Gil, who came from the multinational Sara Lee (Cafés Marcilla). Gil set himself the goal of modernizing and expanding the facilities, professionalizing management, expanding bottling, excelling in the quality of wines and cavas, and internationalizing marketing. Rafel Ramon, president of Covides, thanks Gil on behalf of all Covides members for his great work over the past 20 years and is convinced that with the signing of Ros Caso, Covides will continue along the same strategic lines.
