Rafel Ramon is elected new president of Covides, replacing Fèlix Galimany

Rafel Ramon has been elected new president of Covides to replace Fèlix Galimany, who is stepping down due to health problems. The cooperative held a general assembly on Saturday at its winery in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia with a turnout of more than 100 members. During the party the accounts of the winery between August 2022 and July 2023 were approved and the renewal of the governing council was made.

The positions on the board of directors are renewed every 8 years according to the winery’s bylaws. Ricard Vallès leaves the board and Montse Lluisià and Cristina Freixedes join the board.

Rafel Ramon, a very active member of the Penedès agricultural sector.

The new president of Covides Viñedos y Bodegas, Rafel Ramon, has extensive experience in the cooperative and agricultural sector in the region. For 10 years, he has been one of the most active members of Unió de Pagesos in the Penedès region, where he has held the position of regional coordinator and head of services of the inter-regional metropolitan area. Within Covides, Ramon already formed part of the governing council as vice-president during the presidency of Joan Marcé. He repeated this position when Fèlix Galimany became president. In recent months, Ramon has been acting as chairman.

Objectives: bottling, sustainability, digitalization and generational relief.

In his speech, the newly elected president, Rafel Ramon, thanked the work of the last president of Covides, Fèlix Galimany, from whom he stressed that “he has learned a lot and it has been very useful to share advice with him and the rest of the members of the board in recent times”. In addition, the new president has reviewed the main objectives on which the governing council will focus.

One of the main issues highlighted will be to continue to grow in the percentage of bottled wine, ensuring value and sustainability. In addition, work will be done on the digitalization and modernization of processes, with the training of workers and partners, and the promotion of online sales, social networks and wine tourism. Ramon also explained that work will be done on generational change, attracting new members and relations with other cooperatives.

Felix, thank you very much for all the work you have done for the cooperative, without you it would not have been the same. We hope you get well soon!
